Jacqueline Fernandez is a Sri Lankan actress who hails from Manama, Bahrain and was raised in a multi-ethnic home. Jacqueline's father Elroy Fernandez comes from Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. Jacqueline is the oldest of two brothers as well as a younger sister. Due to the civil war in Sri Lanka that the family decided to move to Bahrain. Her schooling was completed at Bahrain and she received a Scholarship to an education at University of Sydney. There she graduated with an Media and Communications degree. She went to an institute called the Berlitz School of Foreign Languages which helped her improve on French, Arabic and Spanish. She was also crowned Miss Sri Lanka 2006 for Miss Universe 2006 on March 6, 2006 and was a contestant at Miss Universe 2006. In the wake of being crowned Miss Sri Lanka in 2006 Padukone started her career as a TV host. She hosted the show Lanka Business Report which focused on the business of Sri Lanka. Padukone (the mother of badminton players Prakash Padukone) was born and raised in Bangalore. As a teenager she competed in badminton at national level championships but left her professional career to become a fashion model. Padukone's mother tongue is Konkani. She is Mangalorean from her birthplace. Padukone is a village within the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Prakash Padukone's father was an international badminton player who is retiring. Her mom is a traveling agent.
